Eating too much salt can lead to high blood pressure, which can increase the risk of heart attack and stroke. 1 in 4 adults in the UK suffer from high blood pressure, and many people aren’t even aware they have it.

But we’re here to help. We’ve got tasty recipes, top tips and handy hacks to help you Stick to 6 grams of salt for a happier, healthier future!

Why 6

The recommended daily intake varies from country to country, but most European countries recommend limiting salt intake to between 5 and 6 grams a day.

6g is the equivalent to just 1 teaspoon, which when you include salt added to cooking as well as salt in processed and packaged foods, isn’t much at all.

At the moment, the average adult in the UK consumes around 8.4g salt a day – around 40% higher than the recommended maximum.

There are often no underlying symptoms of cardiovascular diseases caused by high blood pressure which is why it is dubbed ‘The Silent Killer’ meaning it’s vitally important to consider salt consumption at every age, at every stage.
